Here’s your space to talk to kids from around the world.

By sharing what we know about climate change we’re all helping each other have a brighter future. Isn’t that a good idea?!

We need to stop climate change and global warming now because we don´t want all the animals to die or become extinct! and we don´t want a hot stormy future do we? so lets all make a change today and think about it is this what you want? or do you want a happy future? #letsstopglobalwarming

The Sun’s heat waves reflect off of ice. Whenever carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gasses are released, they contribute to a big blanket around the earth. Heat goes into the earth, bounces off of the ice, and goes back up to the sky. Some heat goes through the blanket, but the blanket blocks some of it and traps it in the atmosphere. The trapped heat overpowers the ice and melts it, which makes less ice, which means that less heat is getting reflected back. How did the heat get there? Deep in the ocean, little plant-like creatures called Algae die and sink into the ground. They become fossil fuels, such as coal and oil. Factories burn fossil fuels, which releases CO2 (Carbon dioxide) into the air to join the blanket. Instead of burning fossil fuels to create energy, we could use windmills and solar panels. When we breathe, we absorb oxygen, and then release it as CO2. The trees absorb CO2, and release it as oxygen. The ocean also absorbs CO2. Trees and the ocean are carbon sinks. The problem is that every time the ocean absorbs heat and CO2, it expands, rises, and causes floods. And people cut down trees to use for materials. That’s called deforestation. It destroys animal habitats and has endangered and led animals to extinction. When Permafrost (Certain frozen rocks) melts, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas stronger than CO2, but thankfully shorter-lasting. Global Warming is scary, but if we work together, we can slow it down.

I like how you are talking about carbon dioxide reflecting off the ice and how important it is to slow down carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere

WOW!!! I didn’t know that that CO2 expands, rises, and causes floods and climate change and maybe it destroys animal habitats because its getting hotter and making wild fires around the world and it maybe be also its making droughts so animals can’t survive and that makes all animals get extinct. 🙂 :):)

I agree global warming is scary and we can slow it down but it would be tough and if we work together when we can do it!!!

scientist believe that in 100 polar bears will be extinct because polar sea ice caps are breaking up more than they used to during the summer month

That´s true but I want to know what we can do to stop it.

I admire your urgency, and here is your answer: Climate change is what is causing polar ice caps to melt, and therefore causing extinction on many species of polar bear. So that means that too stop this, an action against climate change will resolve this issue, so you can either do something little to solve this, like using less electricity by turning off your lights when you are out of the room, or you could do something bigger, like rely on wind or solar power to power your electric everyday needs.

and that scientists think that in about 50 years more than 1,000,000 species will be extinct

Climate change needs to stop because, animals and plants are dying from all the carbon dioxide in the air. Also when carbon dioxide gose into the air it heats up the world. Then it melts the ice in the water. Next, it causes sea levels to rise. Finaly, houses flood forcing people out of their homes

I agree, climate change is making a big impact on the world, and the ice melting is making it harder for polar bears to find food. In some places polars bears are going into small citys or villages to find food. It is also hurting coral, algae, krill, and all the marine animals. We can stop it by using less electricity and fossil fuels like coal and petronium.

Global Warming is causing snow and ice caps to melt and that can cause polar bears and penguins to become extinct. Scientists predict that polar bears will only be around for about another hundred years. Hunters are also causing animals to become extinct and don’t realize what they are doing. Hunters should really stop killing animals that are going extinct and we really need to stop using so much electricty. INsted we can use solar or motion powered objects to help. In class we have flashlights that are solar powered as well as flashlights that are motion powered. This helps the enviorment from heating up to much which is causing global warming to slow down. Even tho that is helping its not enough to stop global warming. We need more people to be participating to stop global warming before its too late! Lets make a change!

I agree. We should stop using things that use electricity so we won’t put that much CO2 in the air.

I agree because polar ice caps are mostly important for polar bears which are really majestic in my opinion. My third new favorite animal is polar bears now because they are really cool. Its so sad how polar bears are starting to go extinct due to global warming, and effecting polar ice caps, and also effecting their food chain. I believe that if we work hard to stop global warming(starting off with recycling) then we could even save a species if we work really hard!

I know that global warming is hurting our animals. When the air gets to warm it harms the golden tree frog because the golden tree frog cool air that the fog gives them. But when it gets warmer the fog disappears and the golden tree frog is exposed to the heat.that is very bad because they have delicate skin.

I know that we kids should keep the world healthy by telling our parents not to throw anything that is in the wrong bin instead we should put recycling in the right bin and so the centers could reuse it.

Having kids know about global warming is great. Kids that learn about global warming can help them know how to help. The kid who learns about it can help their families know too. Most grown ups usually don’t know about global warming or just don’t want to belive it. Some parents tell their children that global warming isn’t happening. Even though its only one degree at the North pole its two degrees warmer. At the South pole its a little less than two degrees. The snow is melting more and more every day, but we can help. Use solar panels, powered by the sun. Recycle more often so we don’t burn more fossil fules. If we can help people will help too. Scientist say if you see someone doing something nice you’ll want to do it too.

I know that recycling is very important to this world. It reuses the trash and makes something new again.During a field trip to the recycling center I learned that the recycling center makes bales of trash. One of the kinds of bales they make are cardboard bales. One of thoses bales is worth a lot of trees and they had a lot of them. That’s like saving a forest! They also make bales out of tinfoil and plastic. They also take glass but they turn it into sand. When a truck comes and ask for a certain amount of bales of some sort, the recycling center sells it to them and loads them into the truck and the truck drives away. Then in less that sixty days on the shelf of a store a brand new can of soda is up for sale!

I agree, animals don’t deserve to go extinct, they are innocent, but its our fault because we are putting CO2 in the air and creating the greenhouse effect.
